About kelly Blaylock, lmft

Bring calm and confidence back into your life.

I’m a San Diego-based therapist who specializes in anxiety, life transitions, and relationships.

As your therapist, I will be your supporter.

I will emphasize your strengths, especially in those times where that inner critic tries to take over. I will ease your worries about being the only person feeling this way. Most importantly, I am here to be a safe, validating, and comfortable environment to feel your feelings and explore your vulnerability. I value transparency and open conversations about what is working for you and what is not working for you as we move through therapy together.

At the end of our time together, my goal is for you to leave feeling empowered, confident, and in charge of your life. The therapy process will be hard sometimes, however the growth and change that comes from the process is rewarding.

As someone who has also struggled with anxiety, I am a firm believer that the best support you can get is from someone who has lived experience with what you are going through, and I understand how controlling self-doubt and a critical inner dialogue can be.

How I work

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that you should be in a comfortable environment.

I approach therapy with humor, relatable anecdotes, and a casual environment where you can feel relaxed, comfortable, and empowered to take life’s challenges head-on. You may have gone to therapy in the past and felt that it was not a good fit because it felt too structured and you didn’t feel like you were able to truly share what was going on in your life. While my approach is led by evidence-based therapy interventions, my sessions are casual and guided by what is currently coming up for you in the room.

My Guiding principles

  • I am here for you. It’s important to do the work of therapy in an environment where you feel understood by your therapist.

  • Therapy can be messy sometimes. There may be setbacks, or moments where you fall back into past habits or behaviors. This is a normal healing process and I am here to support you through it.

  • It can feel intimidating to come into your first therapy sessions and worry about how you’re expressing yourself. I am here to show you that how you feel your feelings has a purpose.

  • While I have the training and expertise to help you through your journey, this does not make me the expert in your life. Only you are in control of your life, and I am simply here as a collaborative and supportive team-mate.
